This OC Archetypes Tier List ranks character templates for OC NPC Playground based on how easily other NPCs recognize your concept and respond in public or private servers. Rankings reflect creative sandbox play during the July–August 2026 launch window, not combat stats.

• S-Tier — Strong hooks, clear voice, works in crowded public lobbies.
• A-Tier — Reliable with slightly more lore effort.
• B-Tier — Fun but needs private servers or friends to shine.
• C-Tier — Niche concepts; experts only.

S-Tier archetypes

Friendly Visitor

Open, curious traveler with a simple goal (find a landmark, trade gossip). Low conflict, easy for other NPCs to engage.

Street Mentor

Teaches a skill or shares advice. Works with short lore bullets from the Lore Prompt Helper.

Rival Cousin

Playful competition without griefing — wants to win a silly challenge. Sparks dialogue without toxicity.

A-Tier archetypes

Stoic Guard

Protects a location or item. Strong silhouette; keep backstory concise in Lore and Backstory Guide.

Chaotic Inventor

Talks about gadgets and experiments. Colorful outfits help readability.

Reluctant Hero

Avoids drama but gets pulled in — great for longer private-server arcs.

B-Tier archetypes

Brooding Antihero

Needs nuanced writing; vague edgelord lore fails in public servers.

Mythic Deity

High concept but hard to ground unless friends cooperate in private sessions.

Silent Observer

Minimal dialogue fields can starve interactions unless appearance tells the story.

C-Tier archetypes

Exact Copyright Clone

Risk moderation and bland scenes.

Blank Slate Default

No lore, no hooks — technically playable but socially invisible.

Violates etiquette; likely to ruin public lobbies.

When patches add new behavior tags or customization, we revisit tiers in Launch and Early Patches. Community feedback via official channels may shift rankings too.

Using tiers in group projects

Assign each friend a different archetype tier for a private-server showcase night. Compare which tiers produce readable scenes without voice chat coordination. Document results in the Session Planner debrief so future sessions start with proven concepts instead of random outfit tests.

Hybrid archetypes

Many strong OCs blend two tiers — a Friendly Visitor with a Reluctant Hero flaw, or a Street Mentor with Chaotic Inventor gadgets. When blending, keep one dominant hook readable in under ten seconds. Hybrid concepts belong in A-tier unless tested extensively in private servers.

Outfit synergy by tier

S-tier archetypes need readable silhouettes at distance: bold colors, one signature accessory, no clutter. B-tier brooding types can hide detail in dark palettes but suffer in bright public lobbies. Match outfit complexity to tier expectations from How to Create an OC NPC.

Moderation-aware tier shifts

Copyright-adjacent clones drift toward C-tier even when lore is clever — Roblox moderation and bland recognition both punish them. If an archetype requires a licensed character to work, rebuild it as an original homage with renamed motifs.

Community voting (informal)

Friend groups can vote post-session on which archetype produced the best clip. Aggregate votes across three sessions before promoting an archetype on your personal tier notes. Public tier lists on this wiki update only after reproducible launch-window patterns, not one lucky screenshot.
