Lore Prompt Helper

Writer’s block hits everyone in the Create menu. This Lore Prompt Helper gives copy-ready sentence starters for OC NPC Playground lore fields. Combine answers into short bullets — not essays — following the Lore and Backstory Guide.

Prompt block A: Identity

Fill in the brackets:

  • My OC is a [role] from [place] who is known for [trait].
  • They carry [item] because [reason].
  • Right now they want to [goal] before the day ends.

Example: “My OC is a night guide from the floating market who is known for remembering names. They carry a chipped compass because it was a gift. Right now they want to trade rumors for safe passage before the day ends.”

Prompt block B: Voice

Pick three and write one sample line:

  • Warm / Cold / Sarcastic / Shy / Bold / Formal / Slang-heavy

Sample line template: “When nervous, my OC says: ‘[quote]‘“

Prompt block C: Relationships

  • They trust [type of person] quickly.
  • They distrust [type of person] because [event].
  • They admire anyone who [action].

Prompt block D: Scene hook

Choose one hook other NPCs can react to:

  • Lost item needs finding
  • Rumor needs verifying
  • Rivalry over a silly contest
  • Invitation to a imaginary festival
  • Warning about a dangerous path

Prompt block E: Boundaries

  • My OC will never [action].
  • My OC leaves conversations if [trigger].
  • My OC breaks silence only when [condition].

Combine into game fields

Merge your answers into four bullets inside Create. Test in a private server using Interaction Setup Tier List recommendations. Iterate after observing spawns — How to Spawn and Interact.

Archetype-specific starters

ArchetypeExtra prompt
Friendly Visitor”I heard [location] has ** [secret] ** — is that true?”
Street Mentor”Try ** [technique] ** three times before giving up.”
Rival Cousin”Bet you cannot ** [challenge] ** faster than me.”

Prompt rotation practice

Cycle through prompt blocks A–E across multiple OCs instead of reusing the same goal every time. Variety keeps public lobbies fresh and helps you learn which hooks NPC systems reflect most clearly. Save your favorite prompt combos in a notes app tagged by archetype tier.

Combine prompts with the OC Archetypes Tier List so voice and visuals stay aligned.

Prompt block F: Conflict without griefing

Healthy rivalry prompts keep scenes fun in public servers:

  • My OC competes over [harmless prize] but congratulates winners.
  • My OC bluffs about [skill] yet admits mistakes when caught.
  • My OC seeks a rematch only if [fair condition] is met.

Prompt block G: Environment hooks

Ground NPCs in the playground space even when lore is fantasy:

  • My OC mentions [landmark near spawn] as a meeting point.
  • My OC warns newcomers about [busy corner] during peak hours.
  • My OC celebrates [small local event] visible to other OCs.

Anti-patterns to delete before Spawn

Remove filler phrases like “mysterious past” without specifics, multi-paragraph trauma dumps, and real-player names. Replace with one concrete noun and one active goal from blocks A or D. Run the trimmed text through OC Creator Checklist before pressing Spawn.

Collaborative prompt swaps

In group sessions, exchange prompt block C answers with a friend and write reactions — not copies — of their relationship hooks. Swapped prompts reveal whether your OC voice stays distinct or collapses into generic dialogue. Debrief in Session Planner notes after the session.

Yes. Edit brackets to fit your OC, then paste concise bullets into lore fields.

How many prompts should I use?

Answer at least one prompt from blocks A, B, and E for a minimum viable backstory.

Will prompts guarantee dialogue?

They improve clarity for NPC systems, but crowded servers and performance still affect outcomes.
